I've been a fan of Vina ever since I first encountered them on Denman Street years ago. But I had never had the chance to introduce my sweetie to the joys of Vietnamese cuisine, so this trip was my chance. She doesn't share all my foodie passions (she can't handle spices, for example), but I figured that this would be mild enough to appeal to her, so I ordered a couple of combos for lunch one day.
And... got a very enthusiastic thumbs up. We ended up eating there a couple of times while we were in town, and we were both very happy each time.
My old favourite (the roll dip, steamed crepes, brochettes, and rice noodle combo) was off the menu for me, because it would have more carbs than I should be eating in a week. Fortunately for me, Vina does offer low-carb options. (I opted for the salad the first time, although I have to confess that I did weaken and order a salad roll the second time.) -

I ordered the seafood pho and AFTER I've paid, I'm asked if I'm OK with beef balls instead of fish balls because they're out of fish balls. Huh??
It's one of those questions where it's asked but not something I could say no to... because I didn't want to cause a commotion and my brain was still loading trying to understand what they just asked me. But inside me: I ordered seafood pho which is supposed to have seafood but.. they want to substitute it with beef? Firstly the price: the seafood one is $2 more than the all the other pho's so I had paid the seafood price, but you want to substitute it for the regular? Secondly, I ordered seafood because I wanted to eat some sort of swimming creatures not land creatures. I mean, I would be more OK with this if they had done ONE of the following:
- told me that they're giving me extra beef balls to compensate (doesn't have to be true)
- told me when they were taking my order
- paid me back the $2 difference
- said something else to acknowledge this weird situation
But they did none of the above so I was and am quite shocked. Nevertheless, one positive is that the pho at least came with *some* seafood - shrimp. Overall, the pho was very average, bordering below as I've definitely had better noodles/broth. Most likely won't be having pho again here. -

Good food and our order was fast. Tried their food at PNE as recommended by a friend. Again, good food. However, there was no line and we were looking at the menu trying to decide what to get for our family. And the girl working the cash register was rolling her eyes at us bc we were undecided. It's one thing if we were standing in a long line and had time to look at the menu. But we literally walked up to the front to look at the menu and order. Totally disrespectful and a major turn off from their business. I would say, good food but terrible and elitist service. We ordered the Roll Dip Combo. Would order again.

if i can give a negative star, i would. Worst customer service in the Bentall food court.
1) several months ago i witnessed the staff was fighting with a customer b/c customer wanted to modify her order slightly. And the boss lady? (she has coloured hair) was just not having it.
2) today I ordered a vietnamese sandwich. they told me to wait here and then they told me to wait there; I can tell the boss lady? (she has blond streaks) was just miserable lady.
and the food was just meh...
next i will go Royal centre vietnamese food. they are much friendlier. -

Pricy. For what I paid I left hungry. I got number 12 which was vermicelli noodle with pork and a fried spring roll The spring roll was nice and crispy. It was tasty. Two very thin of grilled pork and hardly any vermicelli. Should have ordered the rice instead maybe that would fill me up. Portion was very small. I paid $12 for it and left hungry. This is place is located inside a food court and there are plenty of seating. Its very busy during lunch time. I would say this would be a one time visit. Won't be coming back.
